Hello VALOR Fam!

We hope you’re all enjoying Season 1 of The War Within! The leadership team wanted to take a moment to update you on what’s happening behind the scenes, highlight some of the things we’ve noticed, some of what we’ve acknowledged, and also share our plans for the future of VALOR.

As many of you know, VALOR started as a group of friends who came together to raid and create a fun, welcoming environment. Over the past two years, we’ve experienced rapid growth. During that time, we’ve received valuable feedback and suggestions to try and help maintain that fun and welcoming environment. Our leadership has worked hard to introduce systems, teams, events, and more to keep things running smoothly so that everyone has a place and can experience the content they enjoy.

However, as time passed, some of our leaders moved on to other opportunities or have stepped away due to real-life commitments and responsibilities. Due to our exponential growth and our current leaders trying to keep up with their own roles and responsibilities, we haven’t been able to bring in enough new leaders to fill the empty roles.

VALOR’s mission and ongoing commitment is to offer a space where everyone feels welcome and has the opportunity to engage in the content they choose. Whether it’s learning through our VALOR Academy, participating in competitive content through our official teams, or providing a safe and active community space for streamers and their viewers, we strive to uphold these values.

That said, due to our incredible growth, we recognize the need to step back and take the time to review our current structure and focus on building new additional leadership to ensure that we have the right people in the right positions, to ensure everyone’s success. We have exciting plans for the future and are looking ahead to 2025 to bring those to life. 

As part of this process, we’ve decided to temporarily pause our Community Keys on Saturday, and there may be other events we’ll need to put on hold as we restructure. But, rest assured, we’re aware of what needs to be done and are actively working on it. We’re very eager to bring back these events and introduce new experiences as soon as we’re able, but our priority is ensuring that our current programs are running at full capacity before expanding further. We really appreciate everyone’s patience and feedback while we work through our growing pains.

The executive leadership team has put together a plan for the next couple of months to work closely with each department of VALOR; Community, Esports, Academy and Content to rebuild them from the ground up with the proper roles, guidelines and expectations.

As we all balance regular jobs and responsibilities, implementing these changes will take time. To give you a clearer picture of our focus, here’s a breakdown of our top priorities over the coming months:

November & December: Community Restructure and Enhancements

• Expand our team with additional Community moderators and Academy mentors. (more info below)
• Develop leadership and structure for future social and community events, covering planning, promotion, and execution.
• Revise community guidelines to keep things current.
• Update the “welcome” channel in Discord with relevant info to improve navigation and accessibility for members.
• Refresh the Academy Info/Guides channel with useful links, tools, and guides.
• Clean up outdated information on both the website and Discord.
• Streamline the team application process, highlighting current role openings.

Once we wrap up the holidays and finalize the list above, we’ll begin sharing our monthly plans, outlining what we’ll be focusing on or introducing to the community. As mentioned, we have an exciting lineup of things we want to reveal, and we couldn’t be more thrilled for the future of VALOR!

VALOR is opening up applications for mentors! With a renewed vision and structure.

An Academy Mentor within VALOR serves as a key figure in the learning and development branch of the organization. This role is pivotal in providing structured guidance, educational resources, and practical support for players of various skill levels. The ideal Academy Mentor is knowledgeable in at least three primary aspects of World of Warcraft and also dedicated to contributing actively to the VALOR community, both in-game and on the VALOR Discord. This role involves assisting with tickets, creating and curating learning content, and maintaining a positive and engaging environment for our community of players looking to improve their gameplay and understanding of the game.

Becoming a VALOR Academy Mentor is an opportunity to contribute to the growth of our community and also a critical stepping stone for those looking to advance into more significant leadership roles within VALOR GAMING. As a mentor, you will gain firsthand experience and insight into the inner workings of VALOR’s systems, operational processes, and overall structure. This role offers a unique vantage point into how our departments collaborate to achieve the organization’s goals.

Mentors who demonstrate a high level of commitment, effective collaboration, and a proactive approach to community engagement are frequently the first considered for promotions and expanded roles. By successfully guiding players, creating impactful content, and displaying strong leadership qualities, mentors naturally position themselves as key candidates for future opportunities in VALOR’s leadership, whether that be as a department lead, project manager, or another senior position.

This role is designed to showcase your ability to manage community interactions, work within VALOR’s established frameworks, and provide value to the broader player base. If you display consistent dedication, professionalism, and the ability to foster growth within the community, your pathway to higher leadership roles is both encouraged and supported. VALOR Mentors are seen as a core part of the organization’s talent pipeline, and as such, you’ll be given the tools, knowledge, and feedback to help you excel both as a mentor and as a future leader within VALOR GAMING.
