Community Spotlight: Plum
Hello everyone! I am Plum! I am 36 years old, hail from Texas, and am currently a Holy Paladin on VALOR Blue. I started playing WoW back in around 2005 during The Burning Crusade.
My entire family (Mom, Dad, Siblings) all played WoW back then and I used to make fun of them all because I did not understand what was so great, that is, until the summer I returned from basic training and decided to play out of pure boredom. Like most of us, I was immediately intrigued as I immersed myself into the world of Azeroth!
After learning the game during a short period of playing in The Burning Crusade, my competitive edge got the best of me and I jumped into the #1 guild on my server as a Holy Paladin during WoTLK and obtained my first epic raid achievements (Yogg 25man No Lights/Light of Dawn). Across the rest of my “WOW Career”, I have obtained multiple Cutting Edge achievements across all healing classes while holding a heal lead position in a few top 125 guilds. I was born just outside of Ft Bragg, NC back in 1988. As a military brat, my childhood consisted of many states but was most of my youth was while in South Georgia area. I graduated high school and college both while residing in Arkansas, and joined the Army right out of high school as a Chemical, Biological, Nuclear, and Radiological Specialist (CBRN), which basically just means HAZMAT for the Army. After serving my first 4 years, I decided it was time for a change, so I took my ASVAB again and scored high enough to place myself in the medical field, where I ended up as a Radiology Specialist. This eventually led to my current civilian career in Medical Equipment Sales.
Growing up, I played a variety of both console and PC games. The 1990s and early 2000s were the golden era of console gaming. My family had the original PlayStation and would always take turns playing games such as Crash Bandicoot and Spyro. I also remember always going to friends houses for long weekends of playing 007 and Zelda on the N64, Smash Brothers on GameCube, and many other awesome games. When not gaming with my buddies, I would relax and play Deer Hunter 2, Warcraft, and Age of Empires on a VERY old PC. These days I find myself mostly just playing WoW, but with a sprinkle of Overwatch and Final Fantasy during downtime.
I stumbled upon VALOR through the guild forums I believe, and joined in early 2024. The major appeal of VALOR was not specific to any raid team, but due to the gaming community in it’s entirety. I was (and still am!) very impressed by the organization of the guild and constant guild/team communications. As I grow within the VALOR community, I hope to be able to contribute and eventually join up with the Stream Team to provide additional gameplay and entertainment for the community. For the raid team I am on, I would hope to grow and contribute more from a healing/planning perspective as we plan to begin pushing content in The War Within.
When not gaming, I am probably doing a variety of hobbies! In the summer, you will find me outside tending to my garden, hiking, or at the beach. In the Winter, most of my spare time is consumed with Wildlife Photography – specifically raptors. I also enjoy playing guitar, exercising daily, covering my body in ink, and binging Netflix shows. I do not have any pets currently, but am entertaining getting a German Shepard.
Plum came in like a storm to VALOR and has found his place here in the community. He is a very fun and enjoyable person to be around and very knowledgeable person to interact with. He openly shares his knowledge to help everyone and I am happy to know that such a person is part of our community!
