Two Years of VALOR

Hello VALOR Fam!

It’s hard to believe that we are closing out year 2 and moving into year 3 of VALOR.

When VALOR started, it was simply a group of friends playing random games and hanging out on Discord. In November of 2022 we decided we wanted to create a larger MMO focused community. None of us could have imagined how quickly it would grow into the thriving MMO community it is today.

In our first year, we focused on building the foundation of our community. We listened to feedback, implemented new systems, and added features that shaped VALOR into what it is now. As we grew, we discovered our mission: to create an inclusive place where everyone can enjoy the content they love—regardless of skill level or experience—in a structured environment with a guild that supports them.

In year two we quickly learned how much work that vision would be. The launch of The War Within brought a surge of new members, leading to tremendous growth and new opportunities. This influx allowed us to add more competitive teams, host bigger events, and expand our reach. This rapid growth also revealed the need to adapt our leadership structure and systems to meet the demands of our ever-evolving community.

Building a strong core leadership team, partnering with other brands, and expanding our social media presence will be essential to ensuring VALOR continues to grow and thrive. These initiatives will not only solidify our foundation but also create new opportunities to connect with a broader audience and further establish VALOR as a leading MMO community.

In our most recent newsletter to the community, we shared some of the challenges we’ve faced as we’ve grown, including the need to temporarily pause certain features and plans while we focus on rebuilding and restructuring key systems and guidelines. This process has been vital to ensure that we’re not only meeting the demands of our current members but also setting ourselves up for long-term success.

We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve made significant progress in this effort. With these foundational improvements underway, we’re excited about what’s in store for 2025 and year three of VALOR.

• Updated stream team tiers and benefits.
• Official social media and content team and commitment to showing representation and recognition of our competitive teams and community.

We are just getting started! We are devoted to increasing our leadership core and continuing to provide a safe, inclusive and positive environment for everyone to enjoy. We hope to see you in our January Town Hall as we celebrate our community members and achievements during 2024 and share our plans for 2025 and season 2 of The War Within.

VALOR Gaming is so much more than just gaming.

VALOR Gaming has become a second home and family for me. When I first joined Prawfet, Jette and Kata a few years back as a casual member of the gaming community during our time in Black Desert Online, I never expected anything past just having a group of friends to play with. After stepping into WoW to create a larger gaming community, things took a turn far beyond what I could have ever imagined. The last 2 years have been the wildest ride and I am grateful for every second of it. I’ve made amazing friends, enjoyed gaming more than I ever have and, because of everyone in the community, have come to be able to say that I have accomplished a dream that I had when I was younger of being able to help build a gaming community that everyone can enjoy. 2 years of VALOR WoW… still pretty unreal to me. The sheer amount of growth in such a short time since we switched to WoW has been mind blowing. This community truly is something special and I’m honored and humbled to be part of it. VALOR has seen many iterations and changes, building on past successes and failures to become what we know and love it as now, and will continue to evolve into an even better version moving forward. VALOR Gaming has been so much more than a gaming community, it’s been a family. I have been here about 1 year and half and in that time I have met some amazing people. Created memories I will never forget and got to forget the world and just play games. My fondest memory was New Years Eve last year. We did some transmog runs and were messing around. We then used the swap blaster on a druid in orca form. Turned the entire 30 man into orcas and we swam around Valdrakken circling people making them join us in our shenanigans. This community has been a blessing in disguise for me and I am so excited for what the future holds. – Milk

The Academy has been one of our most impactful initiatives, and with Des on board, we’re looking forward to combining our vision with a fresh perspective. VALOR is opening up applications for mentors! With a renewed vision and structure.

An Academy Mentor within VALOR serves as a key figure in the learning and development branch of the organization. This role is pivotal in providing structured guidance, educational resources, and practical support for players of various skill levels. The ideal Academy Mentor is knowledgeable in at least three primary aspects of World of Warcraft and also dedicated to contributing actively to the VALOR community, both in-game and on the VALOR Discord. This role involves assisting with tickets, creating and curating learning content, and maintaining a positive and engaging environment for our community of players looking to improve their gameplay and understanding of the game.

Becoming a VALOR Academy Mentor is an opportunity to contribute to the growth of our community and also a critical stepping stone for those looking to advance into more significant leadership roles within VALOR Gaming. As a mentor, you will gain firsthand experience and insight into the inner workings of VALOR’s systems, operational processes, and overall structure. This role offers a unique vantage point into how our departments collaborate to achieve the organization’s goals.

Mentors who demonstrate a high level of commitment, effective collaboration, and a proactive approach to community engagement are frequently the first considered for promotions and expanded roles. By successfully guiding players, creating impactful content, and displaying strong leadership qualities, mentors naturally position themselves as key candidates for future opportunities in VALOR’s leadership, whether that be as a department lead, project manager, or another senior position.

This role is designed to showcase your ability to manage community interactions, work within VALOR’s established frameworks, and provide value to the broader player base. If you display consistent dedication, professionalism, and the ability to foster growth within the community, your pathway to higher leadership roles is both encouraged and supported. VALOR Mentors are seen as a core part of the organization’s talent pipeline, and as such, you’ll be given the tools, knowledge, and feedback to help you excel both as a mentor and as a future leader within VALOR GAMING.
