VALOR Newsletter – June 2024

Hello VALOR Fam!

The War Within is right around the corner and we can’t wait for August 26th! We’ve been busy implementing changes from the feedback received from the questionnaire to ensure the community and Discord are in the best spot heading into TWW. Reminder that you will be entered to win a $50 gift card for participating in the feedback questionnaire with your Discord ID.

We understand that joining a large community can feel overwhelming. Finding your place amidst so many members may seem daunting, but we’re here to help you feel at home and make meaningful connections. Here’s how you can get started and become an active part of our community:​

1. Introduce Yourself:​

Start by introducing yourself in the #introductions channel on Discord. Share a bit about who you are, what games you enjoy, and any other interests you have. This is a great way to start conversations and find people with similar interests.​

2. Share Your Thoughts:​

Participate in our monthly discussions section. Each month, we feature different topics where you can share your thoughts, experiences, and opinions. It’s a fantastic way to engage with others and contribute to lively discussions.​

3. Join Community Events:​

Community Game Nights: Held regularly, these are perfect opportunities to play your favorite games with other community members, have fun, and maybe even discover new games.​

Weekly Guild Night: Every Thursday, we gather for Guild Night. It’s a great chance to team up, socialize, and enjoy games together.​

4. Navigating Cliques:​

In any large community, cliques and friend groups naturally form. While these can sometimes make it feel hard to break in, we strive to provide various events, tools, and resources to help every member find their place and meet new people. We are a welcoming community. Whether you’re looking for a group to game with, people to chat with, or just a place to hang out, we’re here to support you. Don’t hesitate to reach out, join in on the fun, and make the community your own.​

5. Engage at Your Own Pace:​

There’s no pressure to dive in immediately. Take your time to observe, engage in discussions, and join events as you feel comfortable. Remember, you’ll get out of the community what you put in, and as you become more active, people will get to know you better.​

VALOR is currently participating in the Stack Up Call to Arms charity drive. You can show your support for VALOR and Stack UP by donating here. We’ve recently surpassed the $1,000 mark and are proud to continue partnering with such a great organization!

Stack Up brings both veterans and civilian supporters together through a shared love of video gaming through our primary programs: The Stacks, Supply Crates, Air Assaults, and the Stack Up Overwatch Program.

What is Call To Arms?

“Call To Arms is Stack Up’s year-long donation focus that fuels our mission of using the awesome power of video games to support US and allied veterans, as well as active duty service members around the world! Our fundraising is driven by content creators who want to make a difference in the lives of those who serve their country. In the past, we have seen streamers and their communities come together to raise support for our mission in diverse and incredible ways. Each year, top supporters are memorialized on our Wall of Heroes.”

Moving into The War Within, our official teams are a great place for those looking for a competitive space in either Raiding, Mythic+ or PvP.

We are working with team captains to ensure that all players on each team understand that joining one of the official progression teams is a commitment and you are dedicated to the full season unless something critical comes up. Respecting each others time and effort is a must.

The goal for official teams is to provide an opportunity for our members who wish to compete at a higher, more organized level. Teams will set seasonal goals and work together with a consistent roster to reach those goals.  As such, teams are to be treated as esports teams, representing VALOR professionally and putting the team first. Official teams provide the atmosphere for those who wish to take their competitive WoW journey to the next level.

Dungeon Dojo Invitational Season 4

VALOR is excited to announce that we will be participating in the Dungeon Dojo Invitational. After a great success with VALOR Onyx placing 2nd in their bracket during Season 3 of Dragonflight, VALOR has opted to participate in Season 4, but this time with multiple teams. VALOR Onyx is making a return along with VALOR Ghost, Celestials, Phoenix, Rainbow, and potentially more! These teams have all shown interest in participating and we as leadership want to stand behind them and support them fully in this! The Dungeon Dojo is a charity event that collects donations for Make-a-Wish foundation and this is something that VALOR supports as well. We want to help bring more attention to this amazing event and help it succeed as best as possible. We hope that the community comes together and supports both our teams and the amazing members of the Dungeon Dojo team for all their hard work as well. Dungeon Dojo will be live casting the event during the competition on July 27th and July 28th and we will post an announcement for when our teams are running as well as stream links to go watch and support them!

PVP Alliance vs. Horde Event

On the 29th of July we will be having an event in which we have Team Prawfet vs Team Fel attacking in Stormwind and Orgrimmar. Each team of 5 will have a streamer/coach with them, and the teams will get points for killing faction leaders as well as killing enemy team members. We hope you come out and watch our players beat each other up and have laughs the entire time!

VALOR Academy is actively expanding its mentorship team and organizing engaging events. Keep an eye out for upcoming workshops and guides each month!

We have also added a new section called “🏫│𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗦-𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗧 ” under the VALOR Academy category in Discord. Allowing you to post guides, tips, ask questions and discuss each class.
