Meet VALOR: KATASTROFIK
Hey everyone!
I’m Katastrofik, COO and co-founder of VALOR. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest (West coast best coast), have never left, and don’t plan on it! I grew up on consoles, starting with Super Nintendo. In middle school, Mountain Dew had a promotion where you would collect points from 20oz, 12 packs, and 24 packs. For an obscene amount of points, you could get a Mountain Dew edition Xbox, so I enlisted all my friends and after many dumpster diving expeditions, I got the Xbox.
Throughout middle school and High School, I played Halo non-stop. I would literally spend hours on the weekend practicing super jumps in Halo 2 and competed in some local tournaments for Halo 3. I made the switch to PC gaming in college when League of Legends came out.
I have a Marketing degree and in 2014 was introduced to prawfeT through a mutual friend. Since then, we’ve created and operated multiple organizations: Team Carbon, Team Sentinel, and now VALOR. We’ve had teams compete in major games and smaller games all across the world, sent a member to a Games Done Quick live event to perform, and so much more.
Covid hit and we decided to shut down Team Sentinel because of the uncertain outlook for Esports. This turned out to be the right call because Esports has yet to recover to its pre-covid state, but more importantly, it led to the creation of VALOR. prawfeT really missed managing an organization, and he’s my ride or die, so I of course was along for the ride.
I had played very minimal WoW until May of 2023, but because of VALOR I instantly got hooked. I love raiding with Silver and doing (getting carried through?) M+ dungeons. I really like progression mechanics in video games, WoW scratches that itch with ilvl and IO rating. I also really like to improve on my mistakes, so looking at logs and comparing my performance to others tackles that department.

VALOR has become so much more than I ever imagined, and I love every minute of it. The community truly is something special and I can’t wait for Blizzcon 2024 and other events! Kthxbye.
